Excuses

September 12th, 2008

I haven’t written in my blog since March!  Excuses?  Yes, plenty!   Well I have been quite busy.  I moved back to California, which anyone who has moved knows all that is involved! It was hard to say goodbye to Oregon, we made lots of good friends and left a caring community, but it was time to come back, back to family!  It has been 18 years since we left, and ironically we found a house on the same street.  We came back with much more than we should have (still unpacking) along with our 3 dogs.  The ride was the longest for all of them, but especially for my husband who did the driving.  But we are back in the cool breeze of Watsonville, which is in the Santa Cruz County, getting reacquainted with our surroundings. I am real excited to be back and able to work on Papertons with my sisters face to face and not on the phone or net!  Speaking of sisters, Pat is having a birthday!   The three of us are going to celebrate in Lake Tahoe!  Now if only I could find that suitcase…

Time

March 26th, 2008

100_0371.jpgTime…where does it go? I blinked and before I knew it, it was Valentine’s Day, and then Easter! It’s been awhile since I made any posts, but I’ll try to put more time into writing. Speaking of time flying, one year ago my husband and I went to Paris during Easter Season! It was a gift from my stepson, Nolan (what a great guy). Paris is well,… Paris. In the words of Gertrude Stein, “ A rose is a rose is a rose,” a beautiful city is a beautiful city, end of statement (for now).100_0425.jpg I thought I would share some of my favorite photos. 100_0531.jpgSince I was in Paris in April; guess what Papertons’ April theme will be? You guessed it, April in Paris!100_0530.jpg

Speaking of Gertrude Stein, here is a page I made in an altered book I’m working on, about different women in history.gstein.jpg

The Phone Call

January 30th, 2008

Sometimes an early phone call can be good news. When the voice on the phone declares it’s a snow day, no school. You can almost hear the shouts across the valley from students and probably louder from the staff, shouts of praise that there is no school! That means staying in bed longer, staying in your jammies longer and having a leisure breakfast, just a pleasurable slow pace.

I looked out the window and it was so beautiful that I jumped out of bed, through some clothes on and grabbed my camera. The moon was still out, although I could not capture that on film, trust me it was gorgeous. Here are some shots of a lovely day…a lovely snow day.

Brr…

January 18th, 2008

Brr…it’s cold outside!  Is there anyone out there who wishes they could hibernate like a bear?  Is it just me? Or are there others out there who want to grab that blanket and just curl up?

Well, since life happens, we’ve just got to toss the blanket aside and start living.  Start doing the things we enjoy doing.  Which, of course, includes scrapbooking or some sort of craft.  Right now my mind is on Valentine’s Day.  I just love the images out there.  By the way, here at Papertons we have some cute cards for V. Day.   Tomorrow I am going to do trading cards with a Valentine theme with the teenage group.  I am anxious to see what they come up with.  Often they tend to like the dark art, which really isn’t my cup of tea, but hey, that’s what art is all about. Right?  Any way, I’ll see if I can post any of their art for all of you to see.
